The Conrad Burns listed in the U.S. Census index for 1840 for the Western Division, Grant County, Wisconsin, on page 044, ID number WIS4a381033, and in the index for the 1842 Wisconsin State Census in the Western Division, Grant County, Wisconsin, on page 009, ID number WI4351275, may be the father of Amy Burns.

The 1840 U.S. Census for the Western Division of Grant County, Wisconsin, shows Conrad Burns as head of a household composed of two males age 20 to under 30, both of whom are employed in mining. No females are shown in the household. John Burns is shown on the same page, two lines down, as head of a household composed of five people, one of whom is employed in mining. There are two males under 5, one male age 20 to under 30, one female age 5 to under 10, and one female age 20 to under 30 in John Burns' household.
