Notes for George Thomas MILLER

According to George Gerard Miller and Peggy Miller Bergmann, George T. Miller left his wife and children when the children were still young and probably living in New York City, New York. None of them ever heard from him again. His son, George (Buddy) Miller says that George T. Miller's father may have come from Germany as a mercenary soldier during the Civil War and then sent for his wife to come to the United States after the Civil War was over. His children did not know even the names of their father's parents.

Family history information that had been provided by George (Buddy) Miller for a grandson's family tree school project found by Peggy Miller Bergmann in July 2000 showed the name of the father of Charles, George, and Alma was George Jacob Miller, born in the United States in 1874, and that their mother, Anna Herzog, was born in the United States on August 13, 1887. It showed the parents of George Jacob Miller as William (Wilhelm?) Miller and Wilhelmina (?spelling), both born in Germany. William Miller was a soldier of fortune (sergeant) in the Civil War. He became a citizen and sent for his wife who was a lady-in-waiting for Queen Wilhelmina (?spelling). They settled in New York. Peggy Bergmann had no idea how accurate any of this information was. The name probably was also spelled Muller.
