Notes for Ella Lorraine BISHOP
An index to the Nevada State Journal newspaper for 1870-1900 found on the internet in the Ancestry.com library in October 2000 showed that Miss Ella Bishop married Wells Drury on May 23, 1888, "in Reno at the residence of the Bride's parents, Dr. & Mrs. S. Bishop."
An email from Phyllis Munsey in 1999 advised that she recalled Ella Drury very well. Her family visited Ella's in Berkley, California. She advised that she had cousins, Aubrey and Newton, and two girls - Muriel, and another whose name she could not remember at that time. They were much older than she was. Newton was head of the State Park System in California for many years, and he and Aubrey had an advertising business in San Francisco. She also advised that Wells Drury wrote a book, "Editor on the Comstock Lode."
The California death index found on the internet in November 2000 at http://userdb.rootsweb.com/ca/death/search.cgi shows that Ella Bishop Drury, whose father's last name was Bishop and whose mother's maiden name was Apperson, was born April 5, 1863, in Illinois and died February 16, 1944, at age 80 in Alameda County, California.
