Notes for Meribah EMERY

Information from John Benzie shows Noah Morrison and Meribah Emery Morrison both died about 1801 and that she is buried in Darling Cemetery, Groton, Caledonia County, Vermont.

According to information in "Mister Glover's Groton," page 230, the first notebook of Nathaniel Knight, the first Town Clerk and the first justice of the peace of Groton, shows the first marriage performed by Mr. Knight and probably the first marriage ever performed in Groton. It is also the first marriage in the Town record book: "Be it remembered that on the 13th day of September AD 1798 that Mr Morrison a transient Person and Miss Meribah Emery of Groton in the County of Caledonia after being Published agreeable to law were joined in marriage By me - Nathaniel Knight Justice of Peace."
