Notes for Paul K. VIOLETT
Paul Violett is shown as age 5 and born in Iowa in the 1920 U.S. Census for Buchanan County, Missouri (Volume 11, ED 61, Sheet 2A, Line 26) living with his parents, William and Blanche Violett, and three siblings at 2011 Jones Street, St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Michigan.
He is undoubtedly the Paul Violett issued Social Security number 488-14-0679 in Missouri before 1951 who was born November 10, 1914, and died February 20, 1996, while residing in St. Joseph, Missouri 64505. An obituary that appeared in the St. Joseph, Missouri, "News-Press" on February 22, 1996, showed that "Paul K. ``P.K.'' Violett, 81, St. Joseph, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 1996, at a St. Joseph hospital after a long illness. Mr. Violett had been employed by the Missouri Air National Guard at Rosecrans Memorial Airport for 28 years, retiring in 1974 as fire chief. He retired with the rank of chief master sergeant. Born in Haywarden, Iowa, on Nov. 10, 1914, he had spent most of his life in St. Joseph.
"Mr. Violett was a member of Marvin McMurry United Methodist Church, Pony Express American Legion Post No. 359 and the Good Joe Sams Camper Club. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence G.; a sister, Helen Roano; and a grandchild. On June 24, 1939, he married Nellie M. Lemmon in Maysville, Mo. She survives of the home.
"Additional survivors: a daughter, Mary Helen Violett, Colorado Springs, Colo.; four brothers; Leo R., David L. and William K. Jr., all of St. Joseph, and Ralph, Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Ruth Foley, Fullerton, Calif., and Blanche L. Belding, St. Joseph; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
"Graveside service and burial: 1 p.m. Friday, Memorial Park Cemetery. Family visitation: 6 to 8 tonight at Meierhoffer- Fleeman Funeral Home."
