The 1851 British Census shows Louisa B. Thurtell, unmarried, age 33, born in Poringland, Norfolk, living with her parents, Thomas and Sarah Thurtell, and her sister, Sarah B. Thurtell, with an address of Hall Lane, Norwich, and a census place of Norwich Lakenham Norwich, Norfolk. (PRO Reference HO/107/1815, Folio 44, Page 22, FHL Film 0207468).

The 1881 British Census CD shows her as Louisa B. Allen, age 62 born in Poringland, Norfolk, England, with a marital status shown as unknown and her occupation as independent, living with her sister, Sarah B. Thurtell, head of the household and marital status unknown, age 66, born in Hamstead, Middlesex, England, with her occupation shown as independent.
