According to the 1926 "History of William Withrow" by Nellie Stanton, Howard VanNatta purchased his parents' farm in Cornelia, Grant County, Wisconsin, when he was married. He was still living there in 1926.

The Grant County, Wisconsin, birth index book shows Howard W. VanNatta, son of Silas A. VanNatta and Levinia E. Withrow, was born January 26, 1884, in Harrison, Grant County, Wisconsin; and his birth was recorded in Volume 3, Registration Number 2420.

Social Security records for Social Security number 387-36-732, which was issued in Wisconsin prior to 1951, verify Howard VanNatta was born January 26, 1884, and applied for Social Security benefits at the office in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, in April 1957. He and his wife, Helena VanNatta, who was born June 1, 1885, as verified by Social Security, both received benefits on his account until he died in September 1964. His widow continued to receive benefits until she died in November 1969 while living in Platteville, Grant County, Wisconsin 53818.
