Notes for Margaret BIGFORD

The marriage certificate for John Edward McClain shows that he married Margaret Hartry at MooseJaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, on Saturday, January 20, 1923, and that the marriage was registered in MooseJaw. Both are shown as being from Swift Current, Saskatchewan. The witnesses were Gow (?) Struson (?) and Louisa Stinson, and the minister's name looks something like J. A. MacKeigan. A note on the marriage certificate from Pearl Sawyer shows the bride was Margaret Bigford. A letter dated October 13, 1999, to Susan Miller from Pearl Sawyer clarified that Margaret Bigford went to live with her oldest sister, Violet, and her husband, Samuel Hartry, after her mother died when Margaret was only one year old. They tried to adopt her, but her father would never agree to it. Throughout her childhood and school years, however, she was as Margaret Hartry.

Her death certificate from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada (Registration number 450024674-874) shows that Margaret MacLeod passed away on February 25, 1994, in Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada. She was a resident of Maple Ridge, British Columbia at the time of her death. It shows she was 89 and born in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. Family information confirmed that she passed away in the hospital at Port Moody, British Columbia, on February 25, 1994.
