The book "Noble Genealogy" by Lucius Boltwood found online in the FamilyTreeMaker.com library in August 2000 shows that Martha Melissa Noble, daughter of Cyrus Dwight Noble and his first wife, Roxana Phelps, was born in Northampton, Massachusetts, on December 7, 1829. This book shows she married first in January 1854 Rufus Hosmer, who was born in Groton, Vermont. It shows she was married for the second time on April 2, 1860, to Benjamin Franklin Morrison, the son of Benjamin and Martha Morrison, and that as of 1877 was residing in Groton, Vermont, and has no children. This book provides a lot of information about the Noble family but this is the only mention of the Morrison family of Groton, Vermont.

Abraham Morrison and his family are listed on page 177 of the 1860 U.S. Census for Groton, Caledonia County, Vermont, which was enumerated June 28, 1860. He is shown as Abram Morrison, a male age 66 born in Maine, whose occupation is a farmer and whose real estate looks like it is worth $1500 and whose personal property appears to be worth $350 or $550 - these numbers are hard to read. Living with him, all born in Vermont, are Frank Morrison, age 32; C. C. Crown, a male farm laborer age 35; Betsey Crown, age 39, Orrin Crown, a male age 6 who attended school in the prior year; Sabrina Crown, age 4; and Melissa, age 30. No last name other that the assumed Crown is shown for Melissa, but this is almost certainly Melissa Morrison, the new bride of B. Frank Morrison, since the census record shows that Frank Morrison and Melissa had been married within the year.
