Notes for William MORRISON

William Morrison and his family are listed on page 176 of the 1860 U.S. Census for Groton, Caledonia County, Vermont. This shows Wm Morrison as a male age 49, who was born in Vermont as were all the members of his family. He is shown as a farmer whose real estate is valued at $700 as whose personal estate is valued at $150. With him are Hannah, age 41; Phineous, age 19; Lydia, age 17; Abby, age 14; Wm, age 9; Nathan, age 5; Jas., age 4; and Lizzie, age 1.

The 1870 U.S. Census for Groton, Caledonia County, Vermont, on page 72B, lists William Morrison as a white male age 57, born in Vermont, and a farmer and stone mason with real estate valued at $1000 and a personal estate valued at $500, and eligible to vote. Living with him is Hannah Morrison, a white female age 57 who was born in Vermont and whose occupation is keeping house. None of the parents of either of them were of foreign birth. With them, all born in Vermont, are Nathaniel Morrison, a white male age 15, Joseph Morrison, a white male age 13, Lizzie Morrison, a white female age 11, and Andrew Morrison, a white male age 8. The children are all in school.

In the 1880 U.S. Census for Groton, Caledonia County, Vermont (ED 45, Page 8, Line 1) William Morrison is shown as a white male, age 67 and born in Vermont, who is married and whose occupation is shown as a Stone Mason. It shows his father was born in Maine; and it looks like his mother was born in New Hampshire, but the location of her birth is very hard to read. Living with him is his wife, whose name is shown as Charlott Morrison, a married white female age 61 born in Vermont as were her parents, and whose occupation is shown as keeping house. Also with him is his daughter Lizza Morrison, a single white female age 21 born in Vermont as were her parents and whose occupation is shown as school teacher. The fourth member of the household is William Morrison's son, Andrew Morrison, a single white male age 18 with no occupation shown who was born in Vermont as were his parents.
