Notes for Alfred John MURRAY

Information received from Peter Murray in 1997 shows that Alfred John Murray, "Jack," was a collector of customs in Pretoria, Port Elizabeth, and all other ports in the Cape at different times. For five years, from 1941, he was in New York as official representative of the South African Customs Department. After retirement he lived at Cannonville, Colchester, on the Sundays River. He was born January 29, 1894, and died February 4, 1972, and was long the senior member, or "Head" of our entire Murray family. He never married.
