Her information shows George Harland Thurtell was born September 6, 1907, in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, and was baptised on September 22, 1907, at St. George's Anglican Church in Guelph. He was married at this church on November 9, 1932, to Helen Gertrude Godfrey. He died suddenly on January 26, 1975, at Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Guelph.

A brochure prepared by Charlotte V. Mackie, of Guelph, Ontario, "Benjamin Thurtell and Descendants" for the "Woodlawn Cemetery Self Guided Memorial Walking Tour," Woodlawn Cemetery, 762 Woolwich Street, Guelph, Ontario, Canada N1H 3Z1,shows that George Harland Thurtell took over the the family homestead, "Westholme," in 1932 and married Helene Godfrey. They continued to farm until 1970 when they retired to Guelph, and the farm was sold. "George was an avid baseball fan who amazed his friends with his knowledge of sports statistics."
