Conchessia Karns Thurtell is buried at Oakwood Cemetery, 1225 East Eighth Street, Traverse City, Michigan 49686, telephone 616-922-4907, in Block 3, Lot 2, North Half, Hannah Avenue. Records from Oakwood Cemetery confirm Conchessia Thurtell died February 3, 1945, at age 53 in Traverse City, Michigan. Her husband, Ben, is listed as the person who authorized her burial.
The Traverse City, Michigan, Record Eagle for January 12, 1914, shows that a marriage license was issued to Walter B. Thurtell and Conchessia G. Karns, both of Traverse City.

The Grand Traverse "Record Eagle" for February 3, 1945, shows "Conchesia Karns was born March 26th, 1889, on a farm near Empire where she spent her early life. She was married to Ben Thurtell of this city January 12th, 1914. For the past three years she had made her home on a farm near Empire." She was 54 at the time she died "early this morning at Munson hospital after a long illness." Surviving, besides her husband, are three sisters, Miss Winnie Karns and Mrs. Fritz Coppens of this city, Miss Anna Karns of Empire; and a brother, Michael of Empire. "One child and her parents preceded her in death." The February 5, 1945, Record Eagle showed that arrangements were being handled by the Hibbard Chapel, and that a service would be held at the Immaculate Conception Church with the Rev. Fr. Kosnik officiating. The body would be placed in the mausoleum until spring when burial would be made in the family lot in the Catholic cemetery.
