Notes for Augusta Caroline Thurtell (TURNER)

The family tree done by Harriet Thurtell about 1900 and the History of the Thurtell Family done by Susan Persia Thurtell about 1968, both in the possession of Susan Persia Thurtell Miller, show Augusta Thurtell was unmarried.

The IGI file at the LDS Family History Center (Batch C075291) shows Augusta Caroline Thurtell, daughter of Walter Thurtell and Honor Clark, was christened January 15, 1834, at Wells Next the Sea, Independent, Norfolk, England.

The 1998 LDS British Vital Records CD shows Augusta Caroline Thurtell was born November 5, 1833, in Wighton, Norfolk, England, the daughter of Walter Thurtell and Honor. This record shows her mother's father was John Clark, and that Augusta's birth was recorded in Dr. Williams Library for England and Wales (source: FHL Number 815926, note: 5088).

According to information received in 1997 from Peter Murray, Augusta Thurtell changed her name to Turner, and was unmarried. She was known to the RoodeBloem Murrays as "Great Aunt Augusta", and left three rings to the three daughters of Walter Murray of Roode Bloem, Aunts Edith, Hattie, and Nan. Aunt Nan's pearl and amethyst ring has come to Marge Shearing, Aunt Hattie's emerald ring to Eleanor Rubidge, and Aunt Edith's diamond ring to (...?).

A Mickle Collection document at the University of Guelph Library mentions an Arabella Thurtell. This is the only reference to an Arabella, and Peter Murray thinks possibly Augusta Thurtell was meant.
